At Chrysalis Assessment and Support Centre, our aim is to guide and support parents in a safe and nurturing environment.
We focus on building on their strengths while gently addressing any areas where support or development is needed.
Designed for situations where there are significant concerns about a parent or carer's ability to meet their child’s needs, Residential Family Assessments typically last around 12 weeks and offer a personalised, in-depth approach to care and support.
We welcome families from all cultural, ethnic and faith backgrounds.
Residential Family Assessments Centres are appropriate where there are 'serious concerns' regarding the ability of parents/carers to meet the needs of their baby or child/ren.
Each family is assigned their own Link worker (qualified Social Worker) who works with them to identify difficulties and find practical, supportive solutions.
Parents are encouraged to take on the main caregiving role for their child/ren during their stay, helping them grow in confidence and develop their parenting skills. This ensures children are not exposed to multiple carers, providing stability whilst allowing the parent/carer to gain more confidence in their abilities.
Before arriving, families receive a Parent Handbook and are invited, where possible, to visit the centre to get to know the team and facilities. Where this is not possible, we will offer to do a video call to show the parents around the centre, see their room and meet some of the staff before their arrival. The assessment process incorporates all aspects of an individual's parenting.
